What is a wind pillow ?

A sound sculpture made in 2010.

There are large and small size holes inside the wooden pillow, and wind blowing plays a melody.

Category and field

The wind pillow is a family of musical instruments in the pan flute group. But the internal hole is lager than the blowhole, so that it makes sound with the surface wind.

Usable fields are sandy beaches, hills, deserts,  etc.

Structure and acoustics

The internal holes are divided into various sizes by three pairs, and the same size holes are paired to both sides. Low, high, and middle tone line up from center to out.

You can get sound experience such as "wolf interval" and "shake of sound image" depending on the wind speed and direction.

Put your head on the Wind pillow and turn the blowhole upwind.
